Being a Greenwich Newborn Photographer is truly such a joy. My heart is always delighted when a family brings their sweet new baby into my studio. Those first few moments of welcoming a new baby into your family are abundant with happiness. Every moment turns into a lifelong memory. My hope, as a Greenwich Newborn photographer, is that the families I work with will always look back at that time when their baby was still so small, precious, and safely held in their warm arms.

I recently had the opportunity to work with the sweet family featured in this post. They were happily celebrating the arrival of their bundle of joy and decided that their photography experience would not only focus on their baby but also on them as a family of three. Well, four, if you count their furbaby who also came to the session!
It’s so common that mom will be less than excited about stepping in front of the camera after the baby arrives. Which is understandable and something all moms experience. But this period of time when your baby is new to the world and everything seems so exhilarating and fresh is truly something to cherish. I want to encourage the moms I work with to open up to the idea of snapping a few photos with their baby during the newborn session.

I always work with my moms to make sure they feel comfortable, beautiful, and relaxed in front of the camera. Whether it’s through selecting attire together through a mood board or bringing in a makeup artist, this time should be celebratory for everyone in the family. So often, I work with families on mommy & me sessions and I hear tales of regret and how they missed out on newborn photos. It can be easy to think that you’ll schedule when you’re ready or feeling up to it. But life with a newborn is an adventure that does not slow down. The best way to schedule is to prepare in advance. I always recommend that families reach out to work with me as their Greenwich newborn photographer when mom is in her third trimester. This will allow us the time needed to properly plan and make sure that everyone's comfort level is met in order to create an unforgettable set of photos.

For this beautiful family, dad joined the session as well. Seeing dad’s tender little baby held tightly in his arms was magnificently symbolic of the journey they will embark on as parent and child through the years. Mom had several lovely, adoring moments with her baby as well. But baby had their own idea about things. From groggy and sleeping to yawing and wide awake, this little one gave us the best of both worlds for the duration of the session. One thing is for sure, they were fully alert and so content when mommy was around.
I offer my clients a variety of soft-toned wraps and blankets for their sessions. I have them fully washed and available in my studio so we can add some variety to each of your baby’s poses. We used a few of these during this session too. One of my favorite moments was baby's tiny toes peeking out through the yellow blanket. You can see each and every sleepy moment, sweet pose, and wide-eyed photo when you scroll through the images below.
